Mr. Levi Duncan has served as the Director of Choral Activities and Fine Arts Department Chair at Alvin High School since the fall of 2019. Prior to his appointment at Alvin High School, Mr. Duncan taught in Goose Creek CISD and Channelview ISD. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education (magna cum laude) from Lamar University and an Associate of Science degree in music (cum laude) from Panola College.

In the harmonious world of Texas high school choral music, where passion for singing and performance intertwine, Mr. Duncan’s dedication and love for the art form has transformed countless young singers into lifelong musicians. Ensembles under his leadership have been invited to perform at the TASB Convention, TCDA Convention, and consistently earn sweepstakes at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation. In 2022, Mr. Duncan was awarded an Alvin ISD Education Foundation Grant and founded the Alvin ISD East Side 5th Grade Elementary Honor Choir.

Due to his dedication to his students and campus, Mr. Duncan is a 4-time Alvin HS MCJROTC Inspirational Educator Award recipient and was named the 2023 Alvin High School Teacher of the Year and a Top 5 Finalist for the Alvin ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year! He has even received national and international recognition being named by internationally acclaimed composer, Eric Whitacre, Teacher of the Week in 2020 and the Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction Award by the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) in 2021.

Outside of the classroom, Mr. Duncan is an active conductor, adjudicator, and fine arts advocate. He currently serves as the Texas Music Educator Association Region 17 Vocal Chair. He is also the conductor of the Chancel Choir at Clear Lake Presbyterian Church in Houston, TX. His professional affiliations include TMEA, TCDA, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, Pi Kappa Lambda-National Music Honor Society, and Phi Kappa Phi-National Honor Society.
Mr. Duncan resides in Pearland, TX with his husband, Eric Gonzales and best friend, Michelle White who are both choir directors in Alvin ISD as well! He loves traveling, spending time with family, and watching everything related to the Philadelphia Eagles - his favorite sports team!
Ms. Michelle White begins her tenure as the Assistant Choir Director of Alvin HS Choir this upcoming school year. Prior to joining Alvin High School, Ms. White served as the Choir Director and Fine Arts Department Chair at Alvin Junior High for four years where her choirs earned consistent sweepstakes awards at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading evaluation and had students earn placement into the TMEA Region 17 All-Region Choir, TCDA Elementary Honor Choir, and TCDA Junior High All-State Choir. She earned her Bachelor of Music Education (cum laude) from Lamar University and an Associate of Science degree in music from Panola College.

Ms. White is an advocate for arts education, an active musician, and mentor to choir directors. In addition to her leadership within the choral area, she has served as the Region 17 Jr. High Vocal Chair and the Alvin ISD Junior High Choir Director. She has also partnered with the University of Houston to host student teachers in her time at Alvin Jr. High. Ms. White finds joy in serving her choral community through mentorship and leadership opportunities.
When out of the classroom, She enjoys singing in her church Choir at Bay Harbor United Methodist Church in League City, TX, serving as a staff soprano. Her professional affiliations include TMEA, TCDA, and Phi Kappa Phi-National Honor Society. Ms. White resides in Pearland, TX with her best friends, Levi Duncan and Eric Gonzales who are both choir directors in Alvin ISD! She loves spending time with her family including her dog, Denver, and traveling. In her free time, she enjoys binge watching new shows and learning how to cook new recipes.
