Mr. Levi Duncan is in his 12th year of teaching and has served as Director of Choral Activities at Alvin High School since 2019. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education (magna cum laude) from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX and an Associate of Science in music (cum laude) from Panola College in Carthage, TX. 

Under Mr. Duncan's leadership, ensembles have performed at TASB and TCDA conventions and consistently earn UIL Sweepstakes. He received national and international recognition being named by internationally acclaimed composer, Eric Whitacre, Teacher of the Week in 2020 and the Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction Award by the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) in 2021.  In 2022, Mr. Duncan was awarded an Alvin ISD Education Foundation Grant and founded the Yellowjacket Honor Choir-the Alvin HS Choir feeder pattern 5th Grade Elementary Honor Choir. A five-time MCJROTC Inspirational Educator, Mr. Duncan was named the 2023 Alvin HS Teacher of the Year and a Top 5 Alvin ISD Teacher of the Year Secondary Finalist. In May 2026, he received the prestigious "Pullen Award for Excellence in Music Education" from the Bay Area Chorus of Greater Houston.

 

He currently serves as the TMEA Area H Vocal Chair and the TMEA Region 17 Treasurer. In addition to his responsibilities at Alvin HS, Mr. Duncan leads and conducts the Clear Lake Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir in Houston, TX. He is an active conductor, adjudicator, and fine arts advocate. Professional affiliations include TMEA, TCDA, TMAA (Active membership), and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Outside of the classroom, Levi loves traveling, spending time with family, and watching everything related to the Philadelphia Eagles - his NFL team! #GoBirds

Ms. Michelle White

Assistant Choir Director, Alvin HS

Musical Vocal/Music Director, Alvin HS

TMEA Region 17 Vocal Vice Chair

Ms. Michelle White begins her tenure as the Assistant Choir Director of Alvin HS Choir this upcoming school year. Prior to joining Alvin High School, Ms. White served as the Choir Director and Fine Arts Department Chair at Alvin Junior High for four years where her choirs earned consistent sweepstakes awards at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading evaluation and had students earn placement into the TMEA Region 17 All-Region Choir, TCDA Elementary Honor Choir, and TCDA Junior High All-State Choir. She earned her Bachelor of Music Education (cum laude) from Lamar University and an Associate of Science degree in music from Panola College.

Ms. White is an advocate for arts education, an active musician, and mentor to choir directors.  In addition to her leadership within the choral area, she has served as the Region 17 Jr. High Vocal Chair and the Alvin ISD Junior High Choir Director.  She has also partnered with the University of Houston to host student teachers in her time at Alvin Jr. High. Ms. White finds joy in serving her choral community through mentorship and leadership opportunities. 

 

When out of the classroom, She enjoys singing in her church choir at Clear Lake United Methodist Church in Houston, TX, serving as a staff soprano. Her professional affiliations include TMEA, TCDA, and Phi Kappa Phi-National Honor Society. Ms. White resides in Rosharon, TX with the BEST dog ever, Denver! She loves spending time with her family and traveling. In her free time, she enjoys binge watching new shows and learning how to cook new recipes.

All freshmen officers will be voted in at the start of the 2026-2027 school year!
